Under the trade name MicroPast® the company Creative New Food (CNF), Switzerland developed a process, which is a novelty on the market for the pasteurisation and conservation of chilled convenience food products.

MicroPast is the first method of pasteurisation with microwave technology which enables to refine partially raw products and pasteurise them at the same time. After refining and cooling a strong vacuum effect within the packing will be avoided.
In close  cooperation with CNF IPS is providing the necessary process- and packaging technology.
In the last weeks a first pilot machine was installed at the CNF premises which are located near Zurich. This pilot machine consists of a microwave tunnel, followed by a gas injection unit and a labeller applying the closure label.
The pilot line is now available for demonstration and test purposes. Already before Christmas several meetings with well-known producers of chilled convenience food products were carried out, further will follow in early 2009.

The new process convinces by:
  • a continuous production procedure,
  • the combination of the cooking procedure with the pasteurisation procedure,
  • lower energy requirements,
  • a considerable longer shelf life as with conventional procedures
  • improved quality regarding colour and texture
  • a wider variety of recipes
